The Challenge

Emerging hazards in the food supply chain pose significant risks to public health and safety. Traditional methods of managing these hazards are often inadequate due to the rapid evolution of contaminants and the complexity of food systems. This challenge necessitates innovative and robust solutions that can keep pace with the changing landscape of food safety risks.

The Oportunity

The Horizon Europe project, FoodSafeR, spearheaded by FFoQSI, brings together 19 leading European academic, research, and industry organizations. This collaborative initiative is set to revolutionize the way emerging food safety hazards are assessed and managed. By developing state-of-the-art tools and frameworks, FoodSafeR presents a unique opportunity to enhance food safety standards across Europe and beyond, ensuring a healthier and safer food supply chain.

The Solution

FoodSafeR is addressing these challenges by creating a comprehensive suite of future-oriented tools, methods, strategies, models, guidance, and training materials. Leveraging cutting-edge science, these resources will be accessible through the FoodSafeR Open Digital Hub, an all-in-one platform that fosters a community of professionals from the European and international food safety systems. This hub will provide the necessary tools and knowledge to effectively combat emerging food safety hazards and ensure a safer food supply for all.

A new generation of future-oriented tools for the assessment and
management emerging of food safety hazards and associated risks:

The European Commission funded FoodSafeR project was launched in October 2022 and over the next 4 years will focus on the advancement of innovations to combat emerging microbial and chemical food safety hazards and associated risks of contaminants based on cutting edge science.

The project will develop a comprehensive suite of future-oriented:
