FoodSafeR and HOLiFOOD Final Joint Conference 2026

On 10–11 June 2026, the Omnia Building at Wageningen University & Research (The Netherlands) will host the final joint conference of FoodSafeR and the EU-funded HOLiFOOD project. The event will focus on how Europe can anticipate, detect and manage emerging food safety risks within an increasingly complex and interconnected food system.

The conference will bring together researchers, food safety professionals, policymakers, industry stakeholders and students, creating a space for dialogue between science, regulation and innovation while presenting the key scientific outcomes of both projects.

Advancing Europe’s capacity to manage emerging risks

Over two days, participants will explore how advanced tools, data-driven approaches and cross-sector collaboration can reinforce the resilience of Europe’s food safety framework.

Key topics include:

  • Artificial intelligence and predictive modelling for early identification of emerging hazards

  • Multi-actor co-design of food safety tools

  • Digital platforms providing information, guidance and guidance on emerging risks

  • Food safety challenges in novel and low-regulated production systems

  • Advanced analytical and detection methods for chemical and microbiological hazards

  • Holistic risk assessment approaches supporting resilient risk management

The programme will feature keynote lectures by internationally recognised experts, thematic scientific sessions, poster presentations and short talks by early-career researchers, fostering interdisciplinary exchange and evidence-based decision-making.

Registration is now open. Participants can secure their place here.

For FoodSafeR and Holifood, this joint conference marks a significant milestone in consolidating predictive tools, harmonised methodologies and collaborative mechanisms that strengthen Europe’s preparedness against emerging food safety threats.

Further details regarding the poster session will be shared soon.
